Prenatal Education
Prenatal education classes are designed to provide you with anticipatory guidance and evidence-based information tailored specifically to your goals, to help you feel confident before baby arrives.
We will dive into understanding lactation, touching on topics like anatomy & physiology, antenatal expression, hunger cues, getting a great latch, how to tell if baby is getting enough, maintaining your milk supply, other methods of feeding or exclusive pumping, and more!
Postpartum Lactation Visit
Postpartum consultations are available to address any feeding questions or concerns that pop up. Your consultation begins with a detailed health history of you and baby, and thorough assessments to examine breast and oral anatomy, and function that could impact breastfeeding.
These visits can address infant weight loss, latch issues, nipple pain, tongue or lip ties, low milk supply, breast inflammation & mastitis, or anything else that impacts your feeding relationship.
Pumping & Bottle Feeding
These consultations are designed to provide you with personalized guidance on using breast pumps & bottles. You will be fitted to your correct flange size. Concerns such as low milk output or discomfort with pumping can also be addressed.
Consultations also provide education on suitable bottles and nipples, responsive feeding practices, concerns about switching between bottle and breast, bottle refusal, and more.
FAQ
-
“The ACA requires all new health plans to cover “comprehensive prenatal and postnatal lactation support [and] counseling.” This means that breastfeeding mothers have health insurance coverage for lactation counseling without cost-sharing for as long as they are breastfeeding. Women may be limited to the providers in their plan’s network to receive this benefit without cost-sharing.”
Appointments with Michelle are considered out-of-network. Payment for your appointment is taken at the time of booking. A superbill (an itemized receipt for your payment) will always be provided to self-pay clients at each visit. A superbill is often sent in to your insurance provider by you, along with a reimbursement request form.
Many carriers, including Aetna and Blue Cross Blue Shield, have different coverage policies in different states. This means that reimbursement from a superbill can vary widely from plan to plan, and no guarantees can be made as to the specific amount that your insurance provider will reimburse you.
I recommend calling your insurance company prior to our appointment to confirm coverage if reimbursement is important to you.
